My favorite CMS/blogging platform, Wordpress, is set to release WordPress 3.0 is within the next 30-60 days.

The release date of Wordpress 3.0 is drawing near and I am pretty much excited. I feel like wetting my pants thinking of the new features of Wordpress 3.0. The new features of Wordpress 3.0 is ORGASMIC!

To name a few new features in Wordpress 3.0:
(1) Your own Username and Password – A BIG YES! from me, Wordpress! Now, I won’t haev to deal with using “admin” as a login. I feel like using my own username during installation

(2) New Default Theme! – Don’t get me wrong, I love the default Kubrick theme as it looks neat, but the new default Theme is so effin’ good you wouldn’t want to look for another theme. Can I hear an OH YEAH?!

(3) Multi-site Capabilities and WPMU Codebase Merge – I have been wanting to try WPMU but I had a gut feeling that Wordpress will integrate that feature on the future updates. I guess I am related to Nostradamus as Wordpress has now merged codebase with Wordpres MU. This would make handling large WordPress networks easier.

(4) Custom Background Support – by just adding add_custom_background(); to your functions.php, Wordpress beginners would be more comfortable changing the background rather than touching the codes.

Other Wordrpress 3.0 New Features:
Custom Post Types, Custom Taxonomies, Easy Menu Management (menu manager) , Specific author templates and Media UI redeign

With Wordpress 3.0, Wordpress is not just one user-friendly platform, it is now shaping into powerful CMS!

Just got a word from Matt Mullenweg that Wordpress 2.9 is now available for download. I am not really surprised as Wordpress has been releasing new versions to the powerful CMS Wordpress and their updates hasn’t failed to impress. They update their versions too often that I get too lazy to update my sites to the new versions since there will be another one coming after I do my update. Wordpress 2.9 is the latest baby!

While I have updated my 1st blog to Wordpress 2.8, this blog is still running on Wordpress 2.3.1. Talk about living under a rock. Anyway, I don’t normally update that often too as newer versions maybe too vulnerable to attacks than old versions. I am not sure if I am correct though.

Here is a snippet of the email Matt sent and I am sure you received it too:

What are people so excited about? Some of the headline features are global undo/trash, built-in image editor, batch upgrades, plugin compatibility checker, and easier embeds. You can read all about it and watch a handy intro video here:

http://wordpress.org/development/2009/12/wordpress-2-9/

Have some eggnog for me,

Matt Mullenweg
http://ma.tt | http://wordpress.org

P.S. Version 3.0 will have a new default theme, better upgrades, dynamic image resizing, and more. See you next year!

I may update this blog to 2.9 to try it out! Try it noe!

Same as usual, installing wordpress does not need a Genius, no pain-in-the-arse-installation. After the installation and you log in your Wordpress Dashboard, you will immediately notice the change of the Dashboard layout. As of the moment, I’m still trying to get used to the new look as I have been using old version of Wordpress on my blogs cause I really hate upgrading, though it will only take me a minute or two to do so.

Their are a lot of changes from the other versions, one of which that I already noticed was the new “look” on the dashboard. Some added features like the Word Counter (good for Paid postings as you don’t need to copy and paste your paste to a word counter) and much more. As of now, with the new changes, I’m loving worpdress more. ^_^

Since this blog is now a year old, I am thinking of giving this baby a new look for the year 2009 if I can find any Wordpress theme that may surpass the beauty of the current theme that I am using. As I was looking for new free Wordpress themes for the planned revamped of the site, I found some good-looking themes that my just do it. One of it is the DawnBreak Wordpress theme. I may try to test out this theme by next week to see if it is indeed what I am looking for. The other two themes that really caught my eye are the Twilight Theme and the RoundBox Theme. All 3 are very neat-looking with less clutter and images to load. Right now, I’m leaning more on using the Twilight Theme. Just a couple of tweaks with it, specially changing the color, I might achieve the look I want for this blog, but then again, these are just plans because I may just stick with this old theme for another year.

Next stop, I’ll be looking for Joomla Templates too as I am planning to dig more on Joomla. I’ll be waiting for new Joomla Templates from the same site as they have featured really neat Wordpress themes in their site.

I have so long loved Wordpress because of its ease of use compared to Blogger and Movable Type but when I tried to use Tumblr, it sure is pretty easy to use too.

I don’t know if I am making sense in comparing Wordpress and Tumblr or if there is even a need to compare, but TUMBLR IS EASIER to use than Wordpress. The only problem I’m currently encountering with Tumblr is it’s lack for autosupport on “Commenting” and I guess I am not the only person who has the same problem. Anyways, I will still use Wordpress and will continue to use Wordpress (I love Wordpress) while I’m going to have another blog (it’s actually a personal “love life” blog for me and my girlfriend) using Tumblr. I will try to test Tumblr more and will write more about it or maybe build a theme for it. ^_^
