Before, they were using another URL shortener to shorten long links, specially for Twitter, up until they changed it to their own URL shortener. I did not really bother.

Today, I found out that the Onlywire links are not redirecting to my blog posts. Instead, it is redirecting to their main page! Onlywire, YOU ARE A TRAFFIC THIEF!

And with that, I will be deleting all my tweets using TwitWipe and I will stop using Onlywire for now.

Screw you, Onlywire!

Anyhow, in the course of the last 5 months, a lot has happened in the webosphere and the blogosphere. One of the latest buzz is the introduction of The New Twitter!

Yes, the popular micro-blogging community, Twitter.com has reintroduced a new design with new features. If you are a big Twitter Vampire, you should have noticed the new look or have heard the news. The changes that is introduced to The New Twitter will slowly be integrated in the progression of the coming weeks so that hardcore Twitter fans like you (yes you!) will have time to grow accustomed to the way things work.

Here are the highlights of The New Twitter
* New design. The site has a cleaner timeline and a rich details pane that instantly adds more impact to individual Tweets while still maintaining the simplicity of the timeline. And, experience infinite scroll — you no longer have to click “more” to view additional Tweets.

* Media. Now, it’s easy to see embedded photos and videos directly on Twitter, thanks to partnerships with DailyBooth, deviantART, Etsy, Flickr, Justin.TV, Kickstarter, Kiva, Photozou, Plixi, Twitgoo, TwitPic, TwitVid, USTREAM, Vimeo, yfrog, and YouTube.

* Related content. When you click a Tweet, the details pane shows additional information related to the author or subject. Depending on the Tweet’s content, you may see: replies, other Tweets by that user, a map of where a geotagged Tweet was sent from, and more.

* Mini profiles. Click a username to see a mini profile without navigating from the page, which provides quick access to account information, including bio and recent Tweets.

Have I seen The New Twitter? Honestly, no not yet. Why? Because I use Twitterfox to manage tweets. Anyway, I am checking it out as of the moment. What do you think of The New Twitter design and features?

The last time we’ve seen a new Twitter user with this kind of popularity was Oprah when she first joined Twitter. Mr. Gates proves that he is not not only the world’s richest man, but one of its most popular it. His legacy as an entrepreneur and a philanthropist are far from forgotten.

Putting the numbers together, that’s about 12,500 Twitter followers per hour, or ~208 new tweeps per minute. In reality though, Bill’s follower count escalated after Caroline’s tweet, meaning his real rate of growth is about 20,000 new followers per hour.

Kudos to you Mr. Gates!

For a more professional definition, TwitterFox is a Firefox extension that notifies you of your friends’ tweets on Twitter. This extension adds a tiny icon on the status bar which notifies you when your friends update their tweets. Also it has a small text input field to update your tweets.

I’ve been using it for more than a month now and it’s really one of the easiest way to get updated to your friends tweets. So if you are a twit, might as well try to download Twitterfox!
