I have always wanted to write about Blogger.com’s Photo Uploader. I wanted to rant about how it sucked and what improvements need to be made.

Blogger.com may have read my mind as they have recently updated and improved their Photo Uploader. Before, you will not be able to view your photo uploads if in case you want to reuse it (at least I did not know how to do it if it was possible). Uploading multiple photos is also a pain as you may not be able to see other photos on that batch if in any case you closed the uploader to check the preview of your posts. Also, you will not be able add multiple photos at once. You have to do it one by one.

Then the update! Blogger.com now has the option to click multiple photos and add those photos at once. Second, you now have the option to add/view past photo uploads so that you can use it o your post. You also have the option so use uploaded pictures from Picassa Web Albums.

Good job Blogger.com! Now, there is one more thing that you left out which we badly need (or at least I need). Please update your sizing/resizing options. We don’t want to restricted to having sized Small, Medium, Large, Extra Large and Original size. We want to have the sizing/resizing bar on the images so that we can freely resize our pictures to whatever we like.

Hopefully it happens sooner.

Blogger.com user, you do want that too right?

For the longest time, Blogspot has made a move and have now added support for individual Pages.

It was a pain in the arse to configure your blogger/blogspot theme to make it look like it has static pages. With this, adding a stand-alone page is now easier on Blogger/Blogspot compared to what it was before.

Steps in Adding Pages in Blogspot/Blogger:

You create a page similar to how you write a blog post. From Blogger, click Posting | Edit Pages tab, then click New Page. (Note: you can create up to 10 pages)

Once your page is published, you can link to it from the new Pages widget. The Pages widget lets you add links to your pages as tabs at the top of your blog, or as links in your blog’s sidebar. (Note: existing third party templates may not support pages as tabs, but pages can still be added as links in your blog’s sidebar)

In the Pages widget, you can decide which pages will have links, and in what order they will appear. You can also choose whether or not you want links automatically created for pages when you create them by checking or unchecking the box to the left of Add New Pages by Default.

For information on how to add a gadget to your blog, you can visit Adding a Gadget

Making Custom Templates Compatible With Pages Tabs

If you are familiar with HTML and want Pages as tabs, follow these steps carefully (caution – this is not for the faint of heart!):

Make sure the Pages Widget hasn’t already been added, if so, remove the widget

Go to the Layout | Edit HTML tab for your blog

Download a backup of your template by clicking Download Full Template

Click the checkbox next to Expand Widget Templates

Look for the following three lines of HTML. If this HTML exists, change showaddelement=’no’ to showaddelement=’yes’

<div id='crosscol-wrapper' style='text-align:center'>
         <b:section class='crosscol' id='crosscol' showaddelement='no'/>
   </div>

If this HTML does not exist, paste the following lines of HTML where you want the tabs to appear (for instance, after
)

<div id='crosscol-wrapper' style='text-align:center'>
         <b:section class='crosscol' id='crosscol' showaddelement='yes'/>
       </div>

Confirm tabs are correctly added, click Save Template

Go to Layout | Page Elements and look for the new horizontal Gadget area and add the Pages gadget there.
